She Doesn’t Work

If you’re shopping for life insurance, you have probably already recognized the need to have a financial safety net for your family. But if you’re married, your safety net might be incomplete unless your spouse also has a term life insurance.

Let’s see a conversation between two men Ajay and Arvind who just met in a coffee shop discussing their lives.

Ajay: “What do you do for a living?”

Arvind: “I work as an Accountant in a Bank.”

Ajay: “Your Wife?”

Arvind: “She doesn’t work. She’s a just a Housewife.”

Ajay: “Who makes breakfast for your family in the morning?”

Arvind: “My wife, because she doesn’t work.”

Ajay: “At what time does your wife wake up to prepare breakfast?”

Arvind: “She wakes up at around 5 am because she cleans the house first before preparing breakfast.”

Ajay: “How do your kids go to school?”

Arvind: “My wife drops them to school.”

Ajay: “After taking your kids to school, what does she do?”

Arvind: “She goes to the market, then returns home for cooking and laundry.”

Ajay: “In the evening, after you return from office, what do you do?”

Arvind: “Take rest, because I get tired working all day!”

Ajay: “What does your wife do then ?”

Arvind: “She prepares meals, serving our kids, preparing meals for me and cleaning the dishes and cleaning the house.

Do you really think your wife doesn’t work? Just because she is a home-maker it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t contribute.”

Ajay: “Yes. But she doesn’t provide any financial support. When I mentioned she doesn’t work, I was purely speaking about financial support.”

Arvind:” Let’s calculate;

Your wife cooks which would be Rs 15000 per month, considering you hired a cook.

She does the household chores, which would again cost you a minimum of Rs 5000/month

She picks and drops your kids another Rs 5000/ month

She does the laundry, purchases groceries and does endless chores which can’t even be accounted for.

Ajay, if your wife stops doing all these chores, your family’s financial stability will be surely impacted to a great extent.

These words actually instilled a thought in Ajay’s mind. He began thinking and considering the endless support his wife provided simply so that he could work without worrying about his home affairs.

Arvind’s words proved to be a reminder and reflection for him to understand and appreciate the roles played by him and his spouse.

Ajay then realised that his wife was also contributing to the income of the family and so he decided to buy a life cover for his wife as well.
