Millennials Are Getting Old

Face it, we are.

Growing up, our parents wanted us to become as successful as that annoying cousin who always got good grades, won sports tournaments and went to Australia to pursue her passion of making loads of money. We hated math, but we somehow got good marks. We have no idea what to do with our B.Tech or B.Com degrees.

We went to MBA colleges to meet the love of our life, deadlines. We signed up for dating apps “on a dare” and our parents signed us up on matrimonial apps. We get a fresh list of marriage prospects every day. Some of us get arranged-love married. Some of us even have kids. We have EMIs to pay, rent or loans to manage, cool plans to cancel, and a boss who just doesn’t chill.

We have not thought about life insurance. We’re too young for that. And, shush, don’t talk about such things. But we wouldn’t mind a life cover till our great grandson zaps us with a laser or till we turn 99, whichever’s earlier.

We are on the lookout for discounts, coupons, gullible shopkeepers and free trials. We want to save money. But not too much. Maybe Rs.1000 or Rs.2000 per month. We don’t want to lock our savings away for too long either. What if the next iphone has more cameras or our friends finally get inspired by ZNMD? An option to get returns in say the next 5 years would be nice.

If you think we’re subtly trying to talk about our newest insurance plan, Edelweiss Tokio Life – Wealth Secure+, we are. It’s a savings plan and a life insurance plan rolled into one, it helps you save tax, it starts at just Rs.1000 per month, it gives an option to withdraw after 5 years, it gives an option to get life cover up till the age of 100. So, start saving already!

Now, it is time to look up from your screen and get a head rush. Told you, we’re getting old.
